A really exciting shoot of Leeds musician TH Band and just to make it a more interesting I was only allocated 20 minutes to come up with two different looking photos. Bramham Woods were chosen due to the diffracted nature of light and also they have a aesthetic reference to the musicians influences, deep south blues.
I chose two very different set ups for these images to make the most of the short shoot. I decided to shoot environmental portrait to make the most of the location, one colour and one black and white. My thoughts were to capture one traditional image, musician with guitar to mimic images of Roger Johnson, Muddy Waters and other musicians of similar ilk. I also wanted a more contemporary feel, one where meaning is expressed through lighting and a passive stare from the musician.
